• "Don't count your chickens before they are hatched".
  Do not put the word out that you have an interview at work except with trusted friends. Get the job then tell your employer you are leaving.
   
• "It never rains but it pours".
  Sometimes all your dream jobs appear at the one time or you get a promotion offer at work when offered a new job elsewhere. At least you have choices but only you can make a decision on what is best for you.
   
• "Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink".
  Remember that you will send many more applications than you will receive job offers over the course of your career.
   
• "You can take a horse to water but you can't make him drink".
  No matter what you do you will also attend a few interviews that will not result in a job? Try to find out why nicely and use that information to prepare yourself better for the next one. Most people will help you but be prepared for what they tell you in the spirit of being constructive.
   
• "Slowly, slowly catchy monkey".
  Don't be over anxious about job applications, let them take a natural course but enquire if you have heard nothing. Don't take the first job you are offered if it does not meet your expectations. Be true to your requirements but do not put yourself out on a limb.
   
• "Rome wasn't built in a day".
  Don't fret if you are having little success, it does take time. It can take several months in some cases depending on what you are looking for.
