The Difficult Boss / Colleague

Who among us have not experienced it? Firstly, it is important to realize that we all see things from our own perspective and that we must be balanced in our view. It is difficult to stand back and wonder why we feel the boss is difficult. Sometimes the tag is earned quite easily and universally recognized internally and externally to the company. Sometimes the tag might be limited to the interaction between just one or a few people. If you are the only one that feels the boss is difficult then it is likely that there is a direct clash between you. This happens, people are normal and difficulties arise over work, output, attitude and so forth.

Can the situation be rectified? Could you try to find out why the situation is difficult? Are you contributing through your performance or your approach and attitude? Can you salvage the relationship by changing? Can you approach this person for a chat and openly discuss the situation - clear the air so to speak. Is the situation retrievable at all? Can you live with it? Is it just nice to feel the boss is terrible because you did not get something you wanted like a promotion or raise? Do you have an alternative?

Where possible you should try to solve the problem. At times a discussion can bring things into the open and can resolve the issue through both parties sharing their thoughts and feelings and setting a plan in place to rectify the issues. At least there may be a mutual understanding of the other side of the equation.

We can only pose some thought provoking questions here. You need to evaluate the issue for yourself.
